Megan Jedrysiak and Jackson Ammenheuser are artists and animators who work collectively as AppleButter Animated. Since 2014, they have been making experimental shorts, commissioned animations, and interactive artwork together. Their creative practice delves into expanding the perception of animated media by experimenting with 3D-2D hybrid animation, AI, and installation work. Jackson and Megan expand their efforts in graphic and motion process by taking elements of digital animation (graphics, motion, sound, automation) and presenting them in physical and streaming spaces with their own painting robot installations and collaborative art machines.
Director Statement
Shorthand Stasis started as a way to reflect on my relationship with cars and commercial image-making. My family worked in the auto-industry and spent many days together in our road-trip warrior minivan. As an animator and a commercial image-maker, I find myself tracing through the continuation of that labor, working on cars as images. Likewise in the film, the characters work to preserve the minivan but also to define it from its surroundings.
