In the video art work "Aimai-je un rêve?" - verse from Mallarmé's poem l'après-midi d'un faune- we watch the dream in the summer afternoon of a modern Faun in a specific place, Elis.
Ιn 1865 Stéphane Mallarmé wrote his poem " L'après-midi d'un faune". A few years later, Claude Debussy, inspired by the poem, composed his prelude under the same title. Two years later, dancer and choreographer Nijinsky created a ballet choreography based on Debussy's music. The story of Faune, who falls asleep in the afternoon in a mood of indolent eroticism, has been a very popular motif in art since antiquity. During his sleep, sexual desires inspired by events of the waking life are intertwined and create a new story.

ntonios Touloumis and Katerina Michalopoulou: architect engineers and digital artists. (Diploma and Msc in Architectural Engineering at the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Msc in Digital Arts of Athens School of Fine Arts. and PHD candidates of NTUA.
They have participated and have been presented with awards in international and nationwide competitions, conferences and architectural project exhibitions. Both their architectural and theoretical works have been published and have participated in collective editions of several architectural books.
Their publications in 2016 are:
- Structural correlations between architecture, music and cinema: Rhythmical description of the Parthenon frieze, published as a proceeding of the 10th International Space Syntax Symposium, Katerina Michalopoulou, Antonis Touloumis.
- ET IN ARCADIA EGO: Performing Music as Architecture, published as a proceeding of the 1st International Funerary Architecture Symposium: City of the Dead/ City of the Living, in In_bo Ricerche e progetti per il Territorio, la Città e l’Architectura, Katerina Michalopoulou, Antonis Touloumis.

Katarina’s artwork “Metronome” had been awarded with ODYSSEUS AWARDS at 2018 London Greek Film Festival.
Spyros Pantazis is an animator, director and graphic designer. He studied graphic design and animation at the department of Graphic Arts & Art Studies at Athens University of Applied Sciences and is a graduate of the Master of Arts "Digital Arts" of Athens School of Fine Arts. He is a collaborator and member of the audiovisual producers team of the Master of Arts "Digital Arts" and also a founding member of the artistic team "Synarmogi". In 2017, he founded the production company "Clayreel", through which he has directed numerous advertising and corporate videos. His projects have been screened at festivals and group-exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
Director Statement
According to S. Freud, the dream is a place where various stories, coming from our experienced life, are intertwined with each other through a specific mechanism. This mechanism is activated when man falls asleep.
According to Artemidorus, the associations (συνειρμοί) created in a dream, are mainly due to similarities arising from the sound of words.
Three main word associations are used in the film:
First association: The word Elis is altered while producing a sonic sequence:
ΗΛΙΣ -ΗΛΕΙΩΝ- FΑΛΕΙΩΝ- ΦΑΛΗΣ-ΦΑΛΛΟΣ
A second sound association is created by the word Hymenaeus (Υμέναιος), which refers to the verses of Mallarme's poem. The word has the same root as the Hymn (Ύμνος) and the Hymen (Υμένας). This word is expressed by the sculptural figure of a girl with a half-open mouth and statuettes depicting female figures with open legs.
The third association refers to the transcription of Mallarme’s poem into a choreography by Nijinsky, influenced by the Attic black-figure vessels that were first exhibited at the Louvre Museum at the time of the ballet conception. Figures from the black-figure vessels that are on display today in the museum of ancient Elis are the reason that the ballet scenes are incorporated in the dream.
