The past can be an unreliable narrator, and the future is simply a shifting reflection of where we are right now. Driven by choreographed movement, original music and sound, REVERIE is an experimental visual narrative that seeks to question and explore. An ensemble dance casts guides us through the delicately narrated introspective, inner dialogue that an emerging artist is having with time itself. Is it true, what they say, that life is but a dream?
The strength and emotional impact of an artist's work is often reflected in how they unveil the most fragile and vulnerable parts of themselves. Brian Bowers is an independent artist, writer, composer, and entrepreneur from the United States. For the past decade, his creative interests have pivoted around using narrative storytelling and creative expression to heal, sustain, and unify diverse cultures across multiple modes of artistic expression. These modes include dance, music, poetry, and multimedia. A first-time film director, his latest project REVERIE is an experimental visual narrative that pulls back the veil between dream states, consciousness, and reality. An ensemble dance cast guides viewers through the introspective inner dialogue of an emerging artist as she speaks with time itself. Bowers also works as a marketing consultant and business strategist. In 2016, Shadows Chasing Light, his first full-length performance and production, premiered at the Durham Arts Council as part of the Durham Independent Dance Arts Festival. He is passionate about helping people align creative ideation with structure and purposeful planning.
