Alan Paterson – Filmmaker
Alan has worked as a camera operator professionally for 40 years. During this time he has also been active in independent film-making. Since 2002 he has worked with choreographers and dancers in Scotland to document work and to create new work.
He has documented work for Colette Sadler, Merav Israel, Natasha Gilmore, Janis Claxton, Norman Douglas, Ian Spink, Tony Mills, Rosalind Masson and Jack Webb . He has collaborated with Ian Spink, Penny Chivas, Paul Michael Henry, Merav Israel and Louise Costelloe, amongst others, in creating new work for the screen.
Alan is based in Glasgow.
Originally from Australia, Penny Chivas moved to Glasgow in 2010 and since then has contributed prolifically to the dance scene.
She is a freelance performer and has worked on a variety of projects, including work by Ian Spink, Plan B, Julia McGhee Christine Devaney, Lyra, Rosina Bonsu, Caroline Bowditch, Vanessa Grasse, and Brian Hartley involving both British and international touring. Penny has an interest in improvisation and has studied with Julyen Hamilton on numerous occasions, as well as receiving funding from Creative Scotland to further this practice. This has also taken her to Mexico to investigate further with Nicolas Nunez. Penny is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) BA (Dance), and the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) Honours, and is currently studying part-time on the Master of Education and Learning in the Performing Arts at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Previous screendance work includes "Dissipate" which has been screened internationally.
