Despina gravitates toward Fantasy inspired by the myths she adored as a child, often exploring the many facets of love, and favors female protagonists in complicated family dynamics who have tripped over cultural barriers they must learn to overcome. Despina also writes Comedy that arouses out of her childhood in Greece, or being a Greek in America… like that time she learned never to trust Americans ‘bearing’ brownies.
